One-To-One with Bettina

I just had my third catch-up/one-to-one with my tutor Bettina. We discussed where my work is heading, what she though about the work I was making and how I was finding it working from home, without being able to go into college. I had explained I was finding it difficult, but was getting into the swing of it and making small changes to make my working environment more productive and motivating. Through looking at my work and discussing the problems I had making my sun prints, although I loved the idea of producing more cyanotypes she suggested I look at artist Helen Chadwick, who used them in a interesting way. From that I spoke of working more with three dimensional work and she suggested I research artist Annette Messager, an artists using mixed medium, installation and sculpture. She also said (as always) I need to do more drawing from observation, which I will push myself to do in the next couple of days. We also figured out how to use Microsoft Teams, which will allow the class to video chat together and a place to upload work, for our tutors to mark. This sounded really exciting and will hopefully give us as a class a sense of togetherness. From this meeting I made a to-do list of things I needed to do and got started. I've found making lists super helpful in this time, adding in a mix of college related and non college related tasks to fill my day and give it some structure. Overall I've found my one to ones super helpful, but my next step is to complete a peer assessment with another classmate to gain their perspective.
