I took these photos of these gorgeous plants I saw growing out of bush. I though these would be fun to paint and the colour was just gorgeous.
I wanted to use gouache paint, as it has a gorgeous flatness, and i think would work well mimicking the surface texture of the plant. It was a little hard to work with at first, as I didn't have a small enough brush for the scale I wanted to work in, but compromised and changed the scale I was experimenting in. Usually if were at college, my approach would be to photocopy the painting and draw/experiment over in another medium, but since I don't have access to a printer, I'm going to paint another version, and experiment using that, again switching up the scale.
